Year 2

Swan Wharf Revival Prt 1

Swan Wharf (Revival) is a project that aims to bring a sense of vibrancy and community back to the Hackney Wick area through the revitalization of a pre-existing building. The project is split into two phases, starting with the initial concept phase where the building is analyzed, and the second phase is the development of the proposed plans. The project seeks to repurpose the space for learning, production, and culture, and to create a hub for the local community to gather and engage with one another.

Rather than creating a new design, the project focuses on reusing and repurposing an existing building, which aligns with the concept of sustainability and minimizing waste. The proposed plans aim to reimagine the building as a space that can reactivate the streets, cultures, and communities of Hackney Wick. The project's vision is to provide an inclusive space that is accessible to everyone in the community, offering a diverse range of activities and experiences. Overall, Swan Wharf (Revival) aims to contribute to the growth and revitalization of Hackney Wick, making it a more vibrant and engaging place for all.

Swan Wharf Revival Prt 2

The second phase of the Swan Wharf (Revival) project takes on the challenge of addressing the issue of gentrification in Hackney Wick. The project aims to integrate the people who are facing the risk of displacement due to gentrification into the design process, making them active participants in creating a new vision for their community. The idea is to create a space where these people can live and also teach the new community playfully and engagingly while highlighting the injustice of housing in the area.

The project values the repurposing of existing spaces for learning, production, or culture, and aims to reactivate the streets, cultures, and communities of Hackney Wick. By involving the people who are most impacted by gentrification in the design process, the project creates a new model for community engagement and design that prioritizes the needs and desires of the community over profit-driven development. Through this approach, the project not only revitalizes an existing space but also promotes a sense of belonging and ownership among the people who call Hackney Wick their home.

L.I.B.E.R

L.I.B.E.R is a unique and exciting project that aims to create a child-friendly city by integrating the concept of play into urban design. The project seeks to deconstruct and explore the idea of play and how it can be incorporated into public spaces. At the heart of this project is the use of a childhood toy as a source of inspiration to create a design that blends historical context with mechanical principles to forge a playful intervention in the streetscape.

The goal of L.I.B.E.R is to create an innovative and engaging urban environment that encourages children to interact and play within their city. The project seeks to redefine the way we approach public space and create a city that is not only functional but also playful and enjoyable for its youngest residents. Through the use of playful design interventions, L.I.B.E.R will help to create a city that is more inclusive and better suited to the needs of children, promoting healthy and active lifestyles while fostering a sense of community and belonging.
